Century Regional Detention Center (Women’s Facility in Lynnwood)
Century Regional Detention Center (CRDF) is Los Angeles County’s dedicated women’s jail facility, located at 11705 South Alameda Street in Lynwood, just eight miles south of downtown Los Angeles. Operated by the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, CRDF houses both pre-trial.
Overview & History
Opened in 2006 to relieve overcrowding in the Pitchess complex, CRDF transformed the former Lynwood jail into a women-only facility. Its twin-tower design consolidates intake, housing, medical care, and programming, creating a streamlined environment tailored to female inmates’ needs.
Capacity & Inmate Population
CRDF is rated for 2,100 beds and regularly operates near full capacity. The facility processes thousands of bookings each year, balancing short-term holds and longer sentenced stays while maintaining close oversight of population levels.
